Became severely into "couponing" for my groceries. I've whittled it down to where I save a good $75-$85 each time I go to Walmart. I buy around $350-400 worth and the $75 in coupons come off of that. I don't get any hassle from the register people. They all know me now. I shop at least every other week so I'm saving myself around $150 minimum in grocery savings.
I also started tagging Walgreens and abusing their Register Rewards. I figured out how to use their money via Register Rewards to purchase items which I will donate for a tax write off. I can easily purchase $200 in a weekend of things I don't have to spend much on. Well, on $200 in products I'll spend about $20 in taxes. But I'll donate the $200 worth of items to Goodwill. Actually, the items I buy are on sale usually too. If I understand correctly, you can write off the "fair market value." So if I buy a bottle of shampoo for $1.99 (and I only pay the tax), I should be able to write-off the fair market value for that particular bottle aka non-sale price.
So, my goal is to have acquired around $2000 for the year and write it off. Its practically free. Check here for the latest deals. These people spell it out for you.
